On a recent trip to Bend we worked with Sara and Kerry from Mint Event Coordination and Design to produce a short promo video for them. Here’s a look.

I came across this article the other day on The Knot.com talking about 4 Hot Wedding Videography Trends. 2 of the four “trends” are things we’re heavily pushing here at VWF. In every wedding film we produce, Todd and I are committed to creating exactly this:

The idea isn’t just to tell the story of your wedding day, but to portray the characters — the conversations, reactions, and moods — in hopes of giving the viewer a sense of the wedding beyond the typical footage. When creating a film with this style, videographers spend more time in the editing room (which, in turn, means the process is likely more costly), but the payoff is in the product: A wedding video even your friends will want to watch again.

The article goes on to talk about wedding trailers, which is also something we offer. They sum it up well:

“The trailer is usually done a few weeks after the wedding,” says Forgione. “It has a more intense style than a highlight reel, and it’s designed to make you want to see more.” Think of it as a teaser to show family and friends while waiting for your full-length video.

It’s good to know that we’re on top of the “hot” wedding videography trends. It’s something we’re continually striving for – to stay out in front of what’s new, while providing brides an affordable way to get it done.

Last Friday, Todd and I make a quick trip over to Central Oregon to produce a promotional video for a new wedding site near Sunriver, Oregon.

Ghost Rock Ranch is a unique location with plenty of charm, a dose of the “cowboy” feel and some amazing views. We’d highly recommend this site for anyone looking to Bend as a destination wedding. Taken from their website, here’s a few amenities offered at Ghost Rock Ranch:

  •  Horse drawn carriage for the bride’s entrance or special events.
  •  Spectacular views for photos
  •  Deck at the pond
  •  Deck off the house
  •  Endless choices for entertainment location
  •  Accommodations for a limited number from the wedding party
  •  Industrial kitchen ideally suited for caterers
  •

We arrived early afternoon on Friday, shot some footage in and around the lodge, then headed back to edit a video together that would play at their Grand Opening the next day.

Just got back from the post office, where we received a note from Shamus and Heidi. We filmed their wedding last summer.

    Dear Ryan,

Thank you again for making trip out to Leavenworth last August to capture our wedding day. You are amazing – we are in awe of your creativity. The video that you created for us is perfect & we will enjoy it for years to come. Your work is FLAWLESS in our opinion. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you out in the future. Best wishes for your continued success – we will certainly refer your services to others! Keep your passion!

    Thanks again,

    Shamus & Heidi

    Jared & Amy | Wedding

Posted on 15. May, 2008 by Ryan Welch in Vivid Wedding Films

We’re headed into the “wedding season” now and kicked things off with a wedding this past weekend just south of Eugene at Blue Rooster Bed and Breakfast. It was a great location with plenty of photo-spots and both Amy and Jared were great to work with. We dodged a few raindrops in taking both stills and video, but overall the day went off without any hitches. Below are a few stills from the day. We’ll add some video vignettes from their Feature when it’s complete.

    Same Day Edits

Posted on 09. May, 2008 by Ryan Welch in Same Day Edit

The new rage lately in wedding films is the ‘Same Day Edit’ (or Wedding Day Edit). It’s where footage from before and during your ceremony is edited together (sometimes with a love story interview) immediately after the ceremony and previews during your reception.

If you’re interested in taking your wedding film to the next level, and giving your guests a “tear” and a “wow” at your reception, check out our Same Day Edit options.
